ABOUT THE BOOK
BLack Girls must die exhausted
Jayne Allen writes fiction out of life experiences and strives to “tell stories that stick to your bones,” calling the remarkable texture of her memorable characters “fragments of reality strung together by imagination.” She is the author of the much-celebrated Black Girls Must Die Exhausted series, that has formed the foundation of a robust worldwide community. Through her books, she shares the magic between the layers of everyday human reality, allowing readers a vehicle to examine the experiences of race, contemporary womanhood, and modern relationships to learn the hidden lessons that bring us closer together. Jayne has been featured by Black Enterprise, Sheen Magazine, xoNecole, and numerous large book blogs including Book Girl Magic, This Browne Girl Reads, Diverse Spines, Spines & Vines, and many more. Through her innovative use of Instagram, she created an inspirational influencer platform that has led to numerous speaking engagements and over 60 appearance requests from book clubs around the world.
In addition to writing and speaking, in 2020, Jayne co-founded the Jumpstart! Your Book writing and marketing courses that have served to educate and empower over 100 BIPOC authors to move from the sidelines into the marketplace more effectively.
Jayne is a native of Detroit, a long-term resident of Los Angeles, and a graduate of Duke University Pratt School of Engineering and Harvard Law School, with active involvement in alumni and community groups.
Jayne writes fiction out of her life experiences, calling every character “fragments of reality strung together by imagination” and strives to tell stories that stick to your bones. Her debut novel, “Black Girls Must Die Exhausted,” which Kirkus Reviews called “both timely and enjoyable,” is Chocolate Chick Lit with a conscience, touching upon contemporary women’s issues such as workplace womanhood, race, fertility, modern relationships and mental health awareness. Her writing echoes her desire to bring both multiculturalism and multidimensionality to contemporary women’s fiction with dynamic female protagonists who also happen to be black.
She previously authored four non-fiction books and is the founder of Book Genius, the “best end-to-end book writing, publishing and marketing course on the Internet,” which launches its first cohort in early 2022..
